Bright Backyard Engagement Party

This past weekend we hosted a big engagement party for Kevin's sister Marielle. She and Chris got engaged a few months ago, but this was the first time everyone was able to get together to really celebrate! They are planning a destination wedding at the beach next April, so this was a great party for everyone that could make it.

The party was held on Sunday afternoon, it was a beautiful day and actually almost hot!  We were so glad that there wasn't rain, especially since most of the party took place in the backyard.  When I started planning, I wanted to go with a garden party theme, incorporating bright fun colors. I think we achieved that pretty well. Everyone had a great time and commented on all of the details.

Busy Weekend!

Whew, that was a whirlwind weekend! We spent the day yesterday with family and friends celebrating Kevin's sister's recent engagement. We Marielle and Chris a big engagement party at our house. It was a lot of fun and complete with lots of little details (more on those to come in the next few days!).

Here's a sneak peak into some of the pictures from yesterday:

And I definitely could NOT have pulled it all off without the help from my amazing friend Kelsey from Southern In Love!!! Everything went so smoothly with her assistance :)

Hope y'all had a great weekend. We missed the Kentucky Derby... but I hope you had a chance to enjoy the great weather and sip on a cocktail, or two!

Long time no see.

I had all of these grand plans to get back to blogging more frequently and then I got busy (as usual!). Well, here's what we've been up to the last few weeks!

This February it felt like we had more snow than usual (along with most of the country)! I'm hoping that we can say that we won't be seeing any more snow until next year... However, it was fun and I loved seeing the dogs play in the snow. Rory really loved it, Darcy didn't like it that much. He doesn't like how it sticks to his long hair ;)
On March 2nd, Kevin and I celebrated 10 years since we started dating. We don't usually do much for this anniversary, but we decided that 10 years of anything is cause for celebration! We went to Second Empire for dinner, it was delish, as always. Second Empire is definitely my favorite restaurant in Raleigh, you must go if you haven't. And, you must ask for the fois gras!!
This past week, we celebrated Kevin's birthday! His birthday was on Wednesday and we celebrated all week long. On Saturday we had dinner at my parents and went out in Downtown Raleigh to see our favorite local musician Adam Pitts perform. Always so much fun!

I'll be back soon to talk about all of the things we are working on around the house to get ready for Spring. :)

Oh and, P.S. GO WOLFPACK! So excited that the NCAA tournament starts this week and that NC State gets to play! :)

Happy Snow Day!

We got a few inches of snow last night! The dogs are super excited that I am working from home today, because that means that they get to play in the snow a lot. Here are some pictures from early this morning when they got to enjoy the snow.

Thanksgiving Recap

Yes, I know, it's already been a week since Thanksgiving! It's crazy how fast time flies, Christmas will be here before you know it!

We hosted Thanksgiving for our families at our house this year. We had a wonderful time on Thursday, here are some pictures from the day.

On Friday, I hosted a Friendsgiving girls' night with friends. We all brought dishes and it was a ton of fun. I set the table slightly differently for this event since it was smaller.

On Saturday I went to the last NCSU football game of the season. Even though we lost, it was fun to see Sarah and hang out with my family. Then, Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent, and I love this time of the year with all of the decorations at church. Later that afternoon, we took our Christmas card photo and went to get our Christmas tree!
